Galveston, an island city on the Gulf Coast of Texas, is a popular beach destination and a place with a rich cultural and historical heritage. It is the birthplace of the national holiday Juneteenth and is home to three National Historic Landmarks and over 1,500 historic buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. The Port of Galveston, a thriving maritime commercial center since 1825, is strategically located at the entrance to Galveston Bay and the Houston Ship Channel. As the fourth most popular U.S. cruise port and the only home port in Texas, the cruise terminal at the Port of Galveston welcomes over one million cruise passengers a year. And now, with the highly anticipated arrival of MSC Cruises, that number is set to grow exponentially!
MSC Cruises is converting an existing cargo warehouse into the Port of Galveston's fourth cruise terminal. The $151 million terminal, estimated to be around 165,000 square feet, will be home to the brand-new MSC Seascape, which is scheduled to first set sail in November 2025. The expansion into the Port of Galveston is part of MSC Cruises' ongoing efforts to expand its operations in the United States. Passengers can now book sailings on the MSC Seascape, which features seven-day sailings to stunning Caribbean destinations, including Mexico's Costa Maya and Cozumel and Honduras' Isla de Roatan.
MSC Cruises designed the Seascape with families in mind, offering an array of unique amenities and entertainment options. The ship boasts an impressive 7,500 square feet of dedicated kids' facilities and state-of-the-art entertainment options. Onboard the Seascape, families can enjoy a variety of activities, including the ROBOTRON robotic arm ride, two LEGO rooms for different age groups (3-6 and 7-11), three dedicated spaces for teens, a VR 360 Flight Simulator, VR motorcycles, and an immersive MSC Formula Racer. The Seascape features 11 different types of cabins designed to meet any family's needs. Fifty of the ship's suites feature extended balconies, and 32 suites include outdoor private whirlpools, ensuring a unique and comfortable experience for all aboard the vessel.
The Seascape, the longest vessel in the MSC fleet, offers all guests a spacious and comfortable environment. Measuring just over 1,112 feet, the Seascape provides more than 130,000 square feet of dedicated outdoor spaces. Situated 72 feet above the ship's infinity pool, the stunning glass floor Bridge of Sighs provides guests with the best views onboard. The Seascape also features impressive glass floor catwalks on either side of the promenade. Guests can choose from eleven eateries, including three main restaurants, a 1,169-seater buffet, and five specialty restaurants. For an adults-only experience, guests can visit one of the ship's 20 bars and the MSC Signature Casino. Le Cabaret Rouge lounge hosts nightly live performances featuring singers, dancers, aerialists, and contortionists in a Roaring '20s-inspired atmosphere.
